Episcopal Church of the Advent

Worship:

Sunday Service is held every Sunday morning at 9:30 am.

Sunday School for the children is held during the first part of Sunday Service.

Every first Sunday of the month we hold a Family Service in which the children of the

Congregation are invited to participate in the service.

About our Worship:

Worship books:

We use two books in our worship, the red Book of Common Prayer and

the blue Hymnal.

The
"S" in front of some hymnal numbers stands for service music, which is found in

the first section of the hymnal.

Stand, Sit, or Kneel?

The traditional Anglican custom we follow at Church of the Advent bids us:

• stand for praise • stand or kneel for prayer • sit for listening *, primarily the lessons

and sermon.

We value this aspect of our worship, which allows us to worship God with our bodies

as well as with our hearts and minds.

However, if standing or kneeling are difficult for you, feel free to remain seated at

these times.

Everyone is invited to receive Communion.

The Bread and Wine are the family meal of all God's people, and all who hunger for

God are welcome as honored guests.

• Regardless of what you may have been told at any other church,

• whatever your religious background -- or lack of religious background,

• whatever your understanding of faith -- or even if, on any particular day, you feel you

have no faith, you are welcome.

Mission Statement:

To nurture a growing and loving Christian Community by caring for and

educating our church family, reaching out to share the Good News of Jesus Christ

with all our neighbors, and embracing all in God's unending and

unconditional love.

Vision Statement For The Church of The Advent: Go Forth!

Mission Prayer:

"Oh, that You would bless us indeed, and enlarge our territory, that Your hand would

be with us, and that You would keep us from all evil."

A prayer of Jabez as found in I Chronicles 4:9-10. cc
